Jfeff for the FEFF Project

--------------------------------------------------

Welcome to the JFEFF Java GUI for the FEFF9 code.

This GUI is designed for the modular version of FEFF8 and FEFF9 and requires at least the Sun Java SE JRE version 1.6.0_24 or later. Note that some operating systems (e.g. Windows 7 or Linux Ubuntu) don't have Java installed by default. You have to install it yourself before you can install and use JFEFF. JFEFF has no other dependencies.

JFEFF is primarily distributed with the FEFF code. Upon purchase of a FEFF license, you will be given access to a secured website where you can download an installer for JFEFF+FEFF. JFEFF installs to Linux, Windows, and Mac OS X. Installation is very easy. For beginning users, we recommend following the Tutorial chapter of the FEFF9 users' guide. Also, the JFEFF GUI contains mouseover captions that provide documentation for most of its options. A stand-alone version of JFEFF, without the FEFF9 code, will be made available on request, free of charge. However JFEFF is not designed to be useful in any other context than running FEFF.

Recently we have developed High Performance Computing capability through a Cloud Computing platform. Thus users can access computational resources on demand without need to create accounts at computing centers or purchase hardware. This Scientific Cloud Computing capability has been integrated in JFEFF (currently Linux and Mac OS X versions only). For more information, please see the SCC website.
