The source code and binaries of the FEFF Project codes are protected by an HTTP user authentication barrier. Licensed users of the software are granted a special username and password that allow them beyond the user authentication barrier. These are not normal Unix usernames and passwords and do not allow access to any of the computers used by the FEFF Project. The use of Internet resources helps speed delivery of the software to our first-time users and allows easy distribution of software updates to established users. Although the software can be sent to licensed users on floppy diskettes via the US postal service, we encourage our users to use our internet resources.
